Unknown to us, our level of self esteem has started since we were kids. Without our permission, our parents helped to develop or tear down our self esteem, our class mates, our teachers, and our neighbors.
What is self esteem exactly? It is the level of confidence you might have in yourself, how you measure your self Worth.
Step into this corner with me for a thorough examination. Being confident does not mean you can talk in public. It is just one aspect of confidence. The bible says the righteous shall be as bold as a lion. As a psychologist, I try to wonder how that fits into all your life experience that has torn you down and broken your level of self- worth.
(A little unprofessional advice from me , Psychology can manage you and help you, God does not manage it, he conquers it. Choose your help wisely)
The bible says irrespective of your background, and how others have torn you down, it is saying you could still retrieve your self Worth , but how?
The kind of insight we get into our own lives is illuminated by the spirit of Christ. Most people who struggle with their self worth have trouble accepting who they are and understanding their experiences. They have so many daydreams where things could be better, but it never happens.
Psychology will try to analyze your past and childhood experiences and say this is the cause, avoid this and that. They would recommend things to do.
God would give you insight into why those things happen, and link it to your sense of purpose. Suddenly it all makes sense, and you want to brag and show the world your "battle scar". Until you allow God to connect the endless and meaningless dots In your life, you might continue to fight a battle you should never have been fighting on your own.
So go to God's Therapy room now, and ask him for help. Let him illuminate you.
Love,
MaryA.
'' I can do all things through Christ that strengtheneth me'' Philippians 4:13
ReplyDelete'' Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves'' Philippians 2:3
It is a true saying about low self esteem, '' Psychologist only manage you and help you but God does not manage, He conquers'' That brings to remembrance of Jeremiah '' Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the LORD said unto me, say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shall speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth'' Jeremiah 1:6-9
What of Moses? '' And Moses said unto the LORD, O my LORD, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the LORD said unto him, who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say'' Exodus 4:10-12
God does not manage but conquers. He made the unlearned disciples learned. They spokes in new languages without formal education and systematically taught and preached than the Scribes and Pharisees. He turned low esteemed Mary and Esther into highly esteemed personalities. He conquered the faithlessness of highly esteemed Saul, made him(Paul) to receive faith and meekness through His marvellous amazing grace, and he was not ashamed to defend the new faith.
The world may look down on us (Christians) as nothing because of our modest lifestyles and non conformity to the worldly lusts (fashion, wears, make up and attachments, music and entertainments, idolatry and immoralities, corruption and pollution) but to God we are highly esteemed as His dearest children. We are a chosen generation and peculiar people, called out to show forth the praises of him who hath called us out of darkness into His marvellous light.
Low self esteem in Kingdom matter is unacceptable. We are called to maintain high self esteem in Christ, stand for the truth, defend the truth and allow no one to despise us and our believe (faith in Christ).
May the LORD conquer every spirit of low self esteem in us. And in lowliness of heart, may He help us esteem each other (Christian workers) better than ourselves in Jesus' Name. Amen
